About Me
Hey, I'm Jake.
I'm a photographer based in West Yorkshire.
I have a huge passion for photography and my goal for this year is to progress this venture into something more than just a hobby.
I work a full time job alongside this new journey, and I'm focusing on creating a brand for myself.
You'll notice my photography often reflects the outdoors, with mostly wildlife and landscape images being produced.
That being said, I try not to limit myself to one form of photography and I'm eager to try many more!

Inspiration
I have found photography & videography interesting all of my life.
My introduction came from old home videos, we would re-watch those tapes from past Christmases or birthday parties basically on repeat through my childhood. Similarly, the old photo albums would always make appreances, with family and love ones reminiscing of years past, sharing the stories to accompany them. I just love it.
It was only really into my teens when it became really transparent how important it was to capture those moments to re-live later and how much "feeling" was portrayed on viewing.
Anyone who knows me personally will be able to tell you how terrible my memory is for most things bar numbers! (nothing medical, and this is mostly a joke - don't worry!)
But that's the thing i've always loved about photography, you can show me a picture from a moment in my life - I'll be able to tell you the full tale, in fine detail, as the captured memories come flooding back.
For me, that's exactly what I want to achieve with my own photographs.
Journey
I was working part-time whilst studying at college, and at the end of my course I had finally saved up enough £££ to purchase my first DSLR on my 18th Birthday - with the help of "birthday money" ofcourse. I had a great summer trying out the camera and experimenting with different types of photogrpahy, and videography, to see what I enjoyed the most. I really leaned into the photography side and specifically enjoyed taking photo's of animals, and landscapes have always been beautiful to me.
Sadly, I fell out of the idea of taking the hobby further when I got my first full-time job - when you're young and making money, you don't really want to stop, do you? - I continued to use the camera as a hobbyist, but never really understood the camera, relying on "Auto" settings and then would be dissapointed when the photo's didn't come out as well as i'd hoped, or tell the story I wanted them to.
I've "dabbled" more with the camera over the last year and have been learning from scratch, really trying to work on the fundamentals and improve.
So here we are, 12 years later, THE SPARK IS BACK.
I've recently bought myself newer, better equipment to help me finally get this passion of mine off the ground - alot has changed in 12 years in technology - who'd have thought, eh?
Aspiration
My main goal with photography is to capture feeling. Whether that is the feeling of exploring a new place for the very first time, being present with nature, or sharing a moment with a loved one. I don't wish to just capture a nice photo, I want to freeze that feeling, in that moment, for it to be shared and relived over and over again.
Thank you
So that's the story of me, a learning curve ahead of me - I'm not sure you can ever perfect photography and I think even the best learn something new every day - but even with that daunting thought in mind, I'm very excited to 'develop' - little photography pun there - and see the quality of my work grow over time too.
Take a look around and I hope you like what you see.
Purchasing a print really does help me see movement in this new adventure, and it truly goes a long way for my own confidence too.
If there's anything else you'd like to try, like a doggy portrait session, or anything really, use the Contact tab to get in touch. I'm open to ideas!
Thank you for taking the time to read this,
All my best,
Jake.
Creating photos you will love.
Here's my basic three step process for photography.
The Process

01. Adventure
This step is as simple as it gets, no preconceptions in my mind, and no set expectations of what i want to capture. I just get outside and follow a path, see where it goes.
Exploring my unknown

02. Capture
Once i discover a spot, admiring my surroundings, or find a moment with nature, it's time.
I take a look around and start to create the composition, aiming to best reflect my own experience of seeing and feeling where i am and what i'm witnessing.
Conceptulising the composition

03. Create
I aim for subtlety when editing my photographs. I maximise emphasis on my subject and strive to truly tell the story of the shot, bringing that captured feeling to life.
